Fluidity is the trend of the year in 2025

10th of March 2025

One of the most important trends of 2025 and also newly included in the measurement has been called FLUIDITY

What is FLUIDITY?

First, it is fueled by the same desire for independence as people are striving to avoid being “tied down.” They want to spend their days doing what they wish, on their own schedule, without having to report to a "boss."

People are taking on all sorts of temporary jobs or fixed-term contracts or making radical career changes without any long-term plan or desire to achieve high performance. They are driven solely by the desire to feel free, flexible, and independent, with as few responsibilities as possible. Their primary motivation is the desire to have time for themselves and their passions, to escape stress, and to avoid having to “report” to anyone.

This concept of fluidity headlines this year's Hunters edition, highlighting people's desire to get rid of all the things that have burdened and stressed them over the years and to live with fewer worries. If you’re fluid, if you understand that life is about change and adaptation, then there’s no reason to stress. You work on projects, deliver only what was agreed upon, and the rest of the time, you try to navigate life peacefully—perhaps in a way you’ve never had the chance to before.

It’s clear that people today are much harder to restrain, as they’ve come to enjoy the taste of freedom and have the means to spread their wings.

How people express fluidity?

Here are some quotes extracted from several qualitative surveys throughout 2024

"I really wanted to teach. During my college years, I taught mathematics, but after finishing university, I began to work in real estate. Now, I focus more on myself. I have also started pedagogical studies. I will probably try teaching as well. I want to do a bit of everything."

"As an Uber driver, I make my own schedule, I work when I want. In my free time, I go out with friends, travel, ride my scooter, and I have no worries about loans or rent—I’m at peace."

"I decided to make a radical career change, moving from a management role in a corporation to a more flexible job in the creative field. I now work as a graphic designer and have the opportunity to collaborate with different brands and projects. Not only does it pay better, but I also have the freedom to choose the direction I want to take. It has made me feel that I can explore my passions more deeply."

"At first, I was a bit hesitant when I was offered the chance to work remotely, but now, after adopting this work style, I wouldn’t want to go back to a rigid schedule. I work in social media and have been able to improve my skills and get involved in various projects while traveling at the same time. This flexibility allows me to take advantage of opportunities I wouldn’t have considered before."

"In time, I either want to have my own business or reach a management position. I don’t mind working for someone else, but what’s important is having autonomy when it comes to how I work, how things are organised, and having a say in what needs to be done—not just following orders. I want to feel free."

"The more I advance in life, the more I realise that every experience helps you grow. I’ve changed over 40 jobs, lived in 3 different countries, and worked in various fields. I really enjoy driving. Lately, photography has become my passion. I want to grow, to experiment. I’ve never liked wasting time—I’m always in a rush. I believe we should learn from everything."

Despite being new in Hunters measurement, Fluidity was identified as a strong trend and ranked first this year in confirmation index (70)
